Communication
As Christians we have a wonderful message of hope and love to share. The Communication department hopes to assist everyone in sharing the Gospel message as well as improving how we communicate. This department consists of the Flashlight editor, the web site co-ordinator, the public relations director and the vice-president, communication.
In LWML-Canada one way we can share the hope we have is through some of the publications that are offered both by LWML-Canada and our own ABC District LWMLC. We also have communication ideas available to help you promote your society and zone events.

Tapestry
Tapestry is the official publication of LWML-Canada. It is published four times a year with subscriptions running from the Fall issue of each year to the Summer issue of the next year.
- Subscription deadline is April 30 each year.
- Order through your society or with two other women to form a group subscription for only $8 a year.
- Individual subscriptions are $11.50 a year.
- Increase your group subscription by at least five or provide two gift subscriptions and reduce your cost.
- Out-of-country subscriptions are $14 a year.
- Subscriptions for part of the year are accepted but they will be partial subscriptions (at the appropriate cost) with the renewal beginning with the next Fall issue.
Tapestry contains a wide range of articles for Christian women and makes a great gift.
Subscription forms for group orders, individual subscriptions, and gift subscriptions are available on the LWML-Canada web site.
Get Connected!
Get Connected! is LWML-Canada's newsletter for leaders. Published four times a year, each issue focuses on a different department - Member Development, Communication, Christian Mission, and Christian Growth

Communication ideas for Zones and Societies
LWML-Canada offers women an opportunity to grow in faith through the study of God's Word. LWML-Canada also provides women with many opportunities for Christian service through the collecting of mites for mission grants and for areas of service in our local communities. These events don't just happen. Promotion must be done at all levels to increase our exposure to both churched and unchurched women. See below for some ideas for encouraging the women in your area.
ZONES
Zone Newsletters
- Include a list of events with dates so people can put them on their calendars immediately
- Include promo ideas for events
- Encourage every society in the zone to host one special event
- Highlight new program resources and make them available for societies
Prayer Chain
- Praying for each society in the zone on a regular basis is so important
Zone Retreats/Renewals:
- Advertise the event in a way that makes all women feel they are included whether members or not.
SOCIETIES
Many women today lead busy lives with work and families. They want to clearly know what events in your society are about to know if they want to use some of their precious time to join you.
Consider:
- Do your promotional materials use terminology that is unfamiliar to those outside the group?
- Is there a clearly understood purpose indicated in the promo?
- Do you use a variety of promo methods? personal invitations, both written and verbal, emails, special messages in the church services?
- Do you try different venues for your activities?
To reach out to young mothers:
- Offer them the use of Bible study materials from Tapestry
- Offer to baby-sit so they can attend the study
- Talk to them about LWML-Canada
- Give them opportunity to join your group or encourage them to establish their own group
